What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a large, diverse genre, with examples spanning across multiple media. It is a powerful force, capable of creating joy and promoting learning, but it can also be exploited for commercial gain or have negative effects when not properly regulated. Entertainment can be adapted to suit any audience or occasion, from the intimacy of choosing entertainment for oneself, through the reworking of familiar forms for new audiences, to banquets, parties and festivals that are designed to accommodate many people; from performances intended for hundreds, to those made available for global audiences on an enormous scale.
