What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

Entertaiment is a broad category of human activities that provide enjoyment, amusement or interest. It is also an aspect of culture and can involve art, games, sports, and other forms of recreation. It is often viewed as a substitute for boredom and a source of pleasure. Entertaiment is derived from the Medieval Latin word intertenere, which is the infinitive form of the verb tenere, based on the Indo-European root ten.

Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as an activity that is understood objectively, encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form.
