What is Entertaiment?
Entertaiment is a term to describe the activities that entertain. These activities can include movies and TV shows, listening to music, playing musical instruments or attending concerts, reading books and magazines, playing sports and games, and experiencing visual arts. The word entertainment reflects the human need to feel connected to other people and the world. In this regard, many entertainment products focus on themes such as social backstabbing, murders and other topics that the human brain was evolved to react deeply to in order to function in a social world.
Entertaiment can be enjoyed on any scale and may involve one individual selecting a movie from an enormous variety of pre-recorded options, or a couple attending a banquet, to a performance adapted for thousands of people. The word comes from the medieval Latin intertenere, derived from the root ten (to hold).
