What is Entertaiment?

A movie, book or piece of music that entertains people. It can also refer to anything that provides diversion or recreation. A club often has live entertainment seven nights a week. It can be fine to get entertained as long as it doesn’t hurt or degrade anybody.

The word entertain comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere. Its root is ten, which means to stretch out. The same etymology also gave us the ten commandments and transform news. The ten commandments are a moral guide to entertainment, as they remind us that all forms of entertainment must be wholesome and not promote cruelty.
